Key Responsibilities

Own the data models and pipelines for a functional area end to end, from design through implementation and adoption

Build and maintain foundational datasets that power analytics, modeling, experimentation, and the dashboards and reports teams rely on

Design data architectures for massive, complex data, balancing usability, performance, and cost

Partner with data science, ML, and engineering teams to improve the coverage, accuracy, and reliability of instrumentation

Build data quality audits at scale, with alerting and anomaly detection where needed
6
Find and act on opportunities to improve pipeline and dashboard performance and cost
7
Drive adoption of your work through documentation and enablement, and share what you learn with teammates

Requirements

4+ years of experience building and operating production data pipelines with high volumes of consumer data
Strong data modeling skills across structured and unstructured sources
Proficiency in SQL and Python, with a focus on correct, performant, maintainable code
Experience implementing and monitoring data quality checks on very large datasets (e.g. billions of rows)
A track record of owning complex projects end to end: breaking them into phases and balancing speed, usability, and risk
Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, and comfort working on problems that are ambiguous and change quickly
A collaborative approach and natural curiosity
Passion for Discord or online communities
Experience with BigQuery, Airflow, and dbt, or similar tools
Experience with Looker, Tableau, or similar dashboarding tools
Experience designing data architecture for experimentation, creating frameworks that scale instead of one-off solutions
Experience mentoring other engineers or setting data engineering standards for a team
