About This RoleAI processing…

Our mission is to automate coding. The first step in our journey is to build the best tool for professional programmers, using a combination of inventive research, design, and engineering. Our organization is very flat, and our team is small and talent dense. We particularly like people who are truth-seeking, passionate, and creative. We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1
Lead, coach, and scale a team of Field Engineers supporting enterprise opportunities within your vertical
  • 2
Partner closely with Sales leadership and AEs to drive high-quality technical discovery, demos, and POCs with strategic and Fortune 500 accounts
  • 3
Own the 0-to-1 build-out of the vertical Field Engineering practice — including field events, industry-specific collateral, customer stories, and deep executive relationship building
  • 4
Establish best practices for evaluations, proof-of-concept execution, and technical deal strategy tailored to the buyers, compliance requirements, and workflows of your vertical
  • 5
Serve as an escalation point for complex customer evaluations and high-stakes enterprise deals
  • 6
Hire, onboard, and develop top-tier Field Engineering talent with relevant vertical experience; set clear expectations and career paths
  • 7
Act as the voice of the field internally, feeding vertical-specific customer and prospect insights back to Product and Engineering
  • 8
Ensure tight handoffs with post-sales teams to support successful customer onboarding and adoption
  • 9
Maintain deep knowledge of Cursor's product, roadmap, and competitive landscape

Requirements

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Cursor's product, roadmap, and competitive landscape
  • You have 3+ years leading Field Engineers, Solutions Architects, or Pre-Sales teams focused on a specific vertical or strategic/Fortune 500 accounts
  • You have a proven track record selling to and engaging technical buyers, developers, architects, CTOs, and their equivalents in regulated or complex industries
  • You have a strong technical foundation and fluency in modern software development workflows, AI tooling, and developer productivity
  • You have an entrepreneurial drive, and are comfortable building from zero, creating enablement assets, running field events, and developing the vertical playbook without a template to follow
  • You have a proven ability to partner effectively with Sales while maintaining technical integrity and customer trust
  • You have strong communication skills and executive presence, able to engage across technical and business stakeholders at the largest accounts in your industry
  • This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial leadership role for someone who combines deep vertical expertise, technical fluency, strong people management, and the drive to build something from scratch.

You have demonstrated expertise selling to or supporting accounts in one or more of our target verticals (High Tech, Retail, Life Sciences, Finserv, Public Sector, Aerospace, Healthcare), and direct industry background is a strong plus
